Develop the strategy and strengthen operations of an established fiscal sponsor
Proteus Fund partners with foundations, individual donors, activists, and other allies to work strategically towards racial, gender, queer, and disability justice and an inclusive, fully-representative democracy. They curate an ecosystem of mutually reinforcing, aligned donor collaboratives and fiscally sponsored projects that deploy a creative array of strategies and tactics to further this vision. Proteus’ specialized approach to fiscal sponsorship is centered in partnership while providing excellent administrative, organizational, and governance infrastructure to social change initiatives enabling leaders to focus on growing their impact with the support of a trusted operational partner
Proteus Fund was looking for support in auditing and evaluating their fiscal sponsorship infrastructure and systems, with the goal of developing a more comprehensive strategy to their fiscal sponsorship practice as well as strengthening their internal operations.
The Ops Collective Helped Proteus By:
Leading an audit and discovery process of their current fiscal sponsorship including financial management and compliance, contract and vendor management, risk management and compliance, people and culture, donor support services, IT, grants management, with a particular focus on the project intake/inquiry process, onboarding and offboarding for projects, and cross-functional team operations.
Connecting with a few fiscally sponsored projects to learn more about their experiences as a project.
Identifying areas for growth and mapping out a plan for how to address those areas.
Outcomes Of Our Work Together
Developed a “findings and recommendations” memo that outlined the gaps and challenges, alongside recommendations for improved operational capacity.
